Pirate Park set for £130k refurbishment
A popular play park in Canford Cliffs is set to be transformed with more than £130,000 of improvements.
Treasure Island, known locally as Pirate Park, will undergo a major refurbishment beginning next month.
At the centre of the redesign will be a new large pirate ship to replace the existing structure, featuring upgraded climbing equipment, slides, sensory play elements and a miniature zip-wire.
The surrounding area will include themed play zones with rope swings, rocking springers and fitness play equipment designed to encourage children to climb, balance and explore.
New features for younger children will include a play tower, balance beams and a communication panel.
Accessibility will also be improved with adapted swings, resurfaced paths and upgrades to existing equipment.
The refurbishment is jointly funded by the Canford Cliffs Land Society and neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy funding.
The improvements form part of BCP Council’s £4.4 million Plan for Play strategy, which aims to upgrade more than 120 play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Work will be carried out by the council’s parks and green spaces team and is expected to take between four and six weeks.
