Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s ‘New to You’ reuse shop will relocate from Cabot Lane in Poole to the Wallisdown area, making it more accessible for residents across the region.
The shop offers affordable reclaimed furniture, crockery, toys, sporting equipment and household items, helping to reduce waste and support families who may be struggling financially.
The move is part of a wider plan to create a community-focused hub at the vacant Wallisdown Heights building, which will also house Children’s and Adult Social Care teams and partner organisations.
The building will be refurbished before services currently based in older or unsuitable accommodation move in. Councillor Mike Cox said the relocation will make the shop easier to reach by public transport and more central for shoppers.
The council’s Cabinet also discussed selling the Cabot Lane site to Wessex Water, with five percent of the proceeds set aside for water improvement projects across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
The nearby bowls club may also benefit from investment and improvements as part of these proposals.
