Bournemouth University’s Vice-Chancellor has joined an international board connecting universities across Arab and European regions.
Professor Alison Honour was invited to join the Arab European Leadership Network in Higher Education Board during its annual meeting at Bournemouth University, adding local representation to a group focused on collaboration, future skills and student mobility.
The network operates through the Association of Arab Universities and brings institutions together to share good practice, strengthen partnerships and support the development of university education across both regions through closer international cooperation.
Professor Amr Ezzat Salama said her leadership and commitment to academic excellence would help ARELEN foster innovation, develop future leaders and build “meaningful partnerships across regions” through its work.
Professor Honour, who has worked and lived in 35 countries and held leadership roles at five post-92 UK universities, said the appointment offered an opportunity to deepen relationships for Bournemouth University, the UK and other network members.
She added that the role supports BU2035, which includes a commitment to taking Bournemouth to the world and bringing the world to Bournemouth through stronger international engagement and university partnerships.
