Plans have been submitted to BCP Council to allow Bournemouth’s Christmas Market to remain in the town centre for another five years.
Alpine Christmas Markets Ltd has applied to keep the festive attractions, including market chalets, an Alpine Lodge Bar, a Bratwurst stand, a festivities stage, and other Christmas-themed installations in The Square, Commercial Road, and Old Christchurch Road.
The proposal also covers chillers, storage, seating, and visitor amenities. According to the planning statement, the market is described as a seasonal attraction that complements existing town centre uses and contributes to Bournemouth’s appeal during the winter.
The statement adds that the market supports the vitality of the town centre, enhances the visitor experience, and benefits the local economy. The current permission for the market runs until January 2027.
The planning application is open for consultation until August 12 under application number P/26/02985/FUL, after which a decision will be made by council officers.
