More film and TV productions choose BCP

More major film and television productions are choosing locations across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Recent filming has taken place at Lake Pier in Hamworthy, Southbourne and Highcliffe Castle, with productions using the area’s coastline, historic buildings and other distinctive settings during a busy three month period for the BCP Film Office.

The activity is estimated to have generated £225,125 for the local economy, with money spent on accommodation, catering, transport and other services supporting businesses and delivering wider benefits for communities across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Councillor Rich Herrett said the area offers “a wealth of possibilities” for film and television projects, adding that three large productions had chosen Hamworthy, Highcliffe and Southbourne during the past three months.

Councillor Andy Martin said the productions bring “real benefits to residents” by supporting local businesses, while also showing local places to audiences and potentially encouraging visitors to seek out locations they recognise from the screen.

The BCP Film Office supports productions of different sizes by offering location advice, permits, licensing guidance and practical help intended to make filming across the area as straightforward as possible.
