Dorset Council’s highways teams are responding to flooding across the county after heavy rain from Storm Chandra fell on already saturated ground. Although the amber warning has been lifted, a yellow warning is in place for Thursday, and rising river and groundwater levels mean some areas remain affected.
Crews are focusing on clearing drains, responding to reports from residents, and closing roads where water poses a risk to people or nearby properties.
Sandbags are available at local community stores to help protect homes. The council is working closely with the Environment Agency and emergency services to monitor conditions and support communities.
Several roads remain closed, including Top o’ Town Roundabout in Dorchester, sections of the A35, A37, A351, A356, and B3092, while other routes are flooded but passable with caution.
Councillor Jon Andrews urged residents to follow closures, avoid driving through floodwater, and take extra care, stressing that some areas cannot drain quickly due to the saturated ground.
