Continued national arts funding for the next financial year has been confirmed for Lighthouse in Poole, alongside a five per cent uplift.
The confirmation means the venue will remain part of the National Portfolio in twenty twenty six and twenty seven, following decisions by Arts Council England on long term support for organisations delivering cultural activity across the country.
Chief executive Elspeth McBain said the announcement was extremely good news for arts and culture locally, adding that it recognised Lighthouse’s role in Poole and the wider region while supporting its status as a National Portfolio Organisation.
The decision forms part of a wider national package announced by Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, with investment aimed at sustaining arts venues, museums, libraries and heritage buildings in communities across England.
Responding to the announcement, Ms McBain said the funding helped address years of underinvestment and would support the continued delivery of ambitious programmes, while also helping meet the significant costs involved in maintaining and improving arts buildings.
Arts Council England is finalising funding agreements and expects to publish full award details in April.
Lighthouse, which also receives support from BCP Council, generates the majority of its income independently while serving audiences across Poole and the wider South West.
