Pavilion hosts festive carols return

A free community carol concert is returning to Bournemouth Pavilion this December, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy an afternoon of festive music.

The Christmas Cracker Carol Concert will take place on Thursday 18 December at 2:30pm and continues a long-standing tradition at the historic town-centre venue.

The concert will feature Bournemouth Pavilion’s Compton Organ, played by musicians Michael Wooldridge and Ian Carter, who are returning to perform once again.

They will be joined by the Bournemouth and Boscombe Light Opera Company Choir, creating a programme of seasonal music for all ages to enjoy.

Bournemouth Pavilion is nearing its centenary and hosts cultural events throughout the year, from musicals and theatre to community performances. The venue is operated by BH Live in partnership with BCP Council.

Speaking on behalf of BH Live, Steve Turner said the concert has remained a key part of the festive season for more than twenty years and continues to bring the community together.
Councillor Rich Herrett added that events like this highlight the Pavilion’s cultural and historic value as it approaches one hundred years.

The theatre’s Compton Organ is one of the few remaining instruments built between 1926 and 1939, and fundraising performances are held year-round to support its upkeep. Optional donations will be accepted on the day to assist with maintenance and restoration.
