Skydive raises £2k for All Saints Church
More than two thousand pounds has been raised for the rebuild of Mudeford All Saints Church after two colleagues from a local care home completed a ten thousand foot skydive.
Ruth Wildman and Denise Marks, who work at Colten Care’s Avon Reach in Mudeford, took on the challenge to support efforts to restore the church following the accidental electrical fire that caused severe damage in summer 2022.
The pair made their jump at Old Sarum airfield near Salisbury, with resident Bruce Eynon watching from the ground. They later joined him at a Sunday service in Stanpit Village Hall, where they presented a cheque for the two thousand and eighty one pounds raised.
Reverend Kathy Hicken invited the congregation to show their appreciation, and Ruth said a prayer was also offered for everyone at Avon Reach, which she described as a touching moment.
Ruth and Denise spoke about their experience, saying it was something they would gladly repeat. Denise added that they were grateful for the generosity shown in support of the church’s restoration.
As well as the skydive, Avon Reach has continued to help the church by providing meeting space and hosting a monthly service open to residents and parishioners.
