Sandbanks named Britain’s most expensive seaside location again

Sandbanks has been named the most expensive seaside town in Britain for another year, according to new figures released by Lloyds Bank.

The latest research shows the average property price in Sandbanks now stands at £929,187. That’s more than three times the UK average and places the exclusive Dorset peninsula ahead of other coastal hotspots such as Salcombe in Devon and Padstow in Cornwall.

The study, based on property prices in 12 months up to December last year, ranks Sandbanks top of a list of 10 most expensive seaside locations, with five of them in the South West.

Salcombe, which held the top spot in 2022, was ranked second, with an average price of £912,000. In third place was Aldeburgh in Suffolk.

Despite rising costs, Sandbanks continues to attract buyers seeking luxury coastal living, with its combination of sea views, award-winning beaches and proximity to Bournemouth and Poole. It remains a destination for both permanent residents and second-home owners.

Kim Kinnaird, from Lloyds Bank, said: “While living by the sea comes at a price, for many the lifestyle benefits – combined with ongoing demand for properties – outweigh the cost.”

The report also noted that house prices in seaside towns have risen by 48 percent over the past decade.
