Motorcyclist in hospital following serious collision in Wallisdown Road

A motorcyclist in his 50s is in a serious condition following a crash on Wallisdown Road this afternoon.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening after the collision which involved a black Kawasaki motorcycle, a white Ford Fiesta and a brown Land Rover Defender.

Road closures have been put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and for an examination of the scene to be carried out.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“In particular, I am keen to speak to a pedestrian who was believed to be crossing at the pedestrian crossing near to the junction with Canford Avenue on Wallisdown Road at the time of the collision.

“I would also urge any motorists who were in the vicinity to please review any dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 11:20hrs on Wednesday 15 May to a road traffic collision near Poole. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a critical care car and an air ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”

DWFRS were also called to the scene and told Bournemouth One: “We were called at 11.26am today (15 May) to Wallisdown Road, Poole to reports of two vehicle road traffic collision. One crew from Redhill Park attended and the incident was handed over to Dorset Police. Our stop came in at 11.51am.”
