Celebrations have been held to mark the 150th anniversary of one of Bournemouth’s longest-established hotels.
The Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott on the West Cliff officially opened on December 13, 1874.
It’s played host to key historic moments throughout its time, including the 1940 telegram sent from the Highcliff inviting Winston Churchill to become Prime Minister.
Yesterday former residents and friends of the property shared personal anecdotes and stories at a celebration event.
The festivities included carol singers and a Victorian-inspired afternoon tea.
The hotel is showcasing displays of period archives and historic property photos in its lobby.
Today’s hotel has 167 newly renovated rooms and the Brasserie Blanc restaurant, serving French-inspired cuisine with ocean views.
