A vacant former Taco Bell in Poole could be converted into a betting shop.
Boylesports UK Limited has submitted plans for the unit at 141 High Street, including a full refurbishment of the existing shopfront, 3 air conditioning units and 2 satellite dishes as part of the proposed change of use.
The betting company, founded in 1989, offers gambling on horse racing, football and other sports, and operates nearly 400 shops across Ireland and the UK, with its British estate approaching 80 locations.
Documents submitted with the application say the Poole branch would form part of the company’s continued expansion into carefully selected locations, while keeping the current style and appearance of the building’s frontage.
The proposal states there would be “no changes” to the shopfront’s overall character, with cleaning and repairs planned to address any existing damage and respect the surrounding conservation area.
BCP Council is consulting on the application until 14 August under planning reference P/26/02745/FUL.
