A Morebus team has raised more than £25,000 after completing the Three Peaks Challenge.
Representatives from Go South Coast, which operates Morebus, took on the endurance event last weekend in memory of the company’s late managing director, Andrew Wickham.
The challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. Those taking part included colleagues from Morebus, the wider Go South Coast team and representatives from parent company the Go Ahead Group.
Ed Wills, Go South Coast managing director, said the team completed the challenge close to the first anniversary of Andrew’s passing, making the effort especially meaningful for those involved.
He said: “It was fitting that we accomplished this feat close the first anniversary of Andrew’s passing.”
More than £25,000 was raised through the challenge, with the money being donated to Cancer Research UK at the request of Andrew’s family.
Ed said the group had “worked incredibly hard” to finish the Three Peaks within the 24 hour target, adding that the cause behind the challenge meant a great deal to everyone involved.
He also thanked colleagues for “giving their all” and for their company over the course of the weekend.
Dorset based Damory, which is also part of Go South Coast, supported the group by providing transport and volunteer drivers.
Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses, and provides cancer information to the public.
