Inclusive pantomime shows announced

Bournemouth Pavilion will host two specially adapted performances of Cinderella this December to make sure everyone can enjoy the festive pantomime.

A captioned performance will take place on Sunday 14 December at 1pm, with dialogue displayed on two screens. It will support those who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing, as well as people who are neurodivergent or have auditory processing conditions.

A relaxed performance follows on Tuesday 16 December at 10:30am, designed for those who may find traditional theatre settings overwhelming. Sound levels will be reduced, house lights kept on, and people will be free to move around or take a break during the show.

BH Live, which operates Bournemouth Pavilion in partnership with BCP Council, is working with UK Productions Ltd to deliver the accessible shows.

Steve Turner from BH Live said the aim was to ensure everyone feels welcome and able to experience the joy and laughter of panto.

Martin Dodd from UK Productions added that the relaxed and captioned performances will help even more audiences share in the festive magic.

Councillor Richard Herrett said the initiative shows inclusion in action and ensures everyone can enjoy live theatre this Christmas.

The production, written by Jon Monie, stars Melanie Walters, Olivia Birchenough, Noel Brodie, Jack Wilcox and The Fabulous Sisters.
