Food waste collections expand across BCP
Weekly food waste collections are expanding across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole from today (Monday).
Homes in Poole and flats in Bournemouth will now join the council’s weekly food waste recycling service, meaning more than 100000 additional households will be able to recycle their leftovers alongside residents in Bournemouth and Christchurch already using the system.
Dedicated food waste lorries will begin operating across local streets as the expanded collections start, with waste collected on the same day as residents’ usual rubbish and recycling collections.
The rollout creates a single recycling system across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, with the same rules and collection arrangements for households across the area.
Kate Langdown, Director of Environment, said the expansion was “a really positive step for our communities” and described food waste recycling as one of the easiest habits residents can adopt.
She added that bringing everyone onto the same weekly service makes it simpler for households to recycle food waste and feel confident they are making a positive impact.
