Bournemouth shops closed for illegal tobacco

Two Bournemouth shops has been closed down for repeatedly selling illegal tobacco and vapes.

The Triangle Mini Market on Commercial Road and Kingston Market in The Triangle must remain closed for three months under court orders.

BCP Council said the closures aim to prevent further illegal trading and protect the public. Councillor Kieron Wilson, Cabinet member for Community Safety and Trading Standards, said the sale of illicit tobacco and vapes is linked to organised crime and harms communities. He added that decisive action helps protect people, supports legitimate businesses, and keeps town centres welcoming.

The council’s Trading Standards team previously seized over seven hundred thousand cigarettes, nearly 4000 pouches of hand-rolling tobacco, and almost 10,000 illegal vapes during a summer crackdown in 2025. Around £7000 in cash and two vehicles used to store illegal goods were also seized. The seized products had a street value of approximately £870,000, representing a loss to the UK Government.

BCP Council continues to receive intelligence from the public and urges anyone with information to contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service, with reports able to be made anonymously.
