Cherries sign Álvaro Rodríguez from Elche

AFC Bournemouth have signed Uruguay forward Álvaro Rodríguez on a long-term deal after his season with Elche.

The 22-year-old made 24 starts and 10 substitute appearances during the 2025/26 La Liga campaign, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists, including strikes against Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Born in Palamós, Rodríguez began his academy career with Girona before moving to Real Madrid’s La Fábrica system in 2020 and making his senior debut under Carlo Ancelotti in January 2023.

He scored his first league goal by heading in a Luka Modrić corner against Atlético Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, later reaching 10 senior appearances before loan spells with Getafe and Elche.

Head of Football Operations Tiago Pinto said the forward has “enormous potential” and can make an “immediate impact” as Bournemouth prepare for a campaign which includes European football.

Rodríguez said joining the Cherries was “a great privilege”, adding that playing in the Premier League had been a dream since childhood.
