Newly qualified social workers have completed a year long programme designed to strengthen skills and confidence across local services.
Fifteen graduates took part in a ceremony at the civic centre council chambers to mark the end of their assessed and supported year in employment, known as ASYE, joined by mentors, managers, senior leaders and civic representatives.
The programme supports social workers during their first year in practice, helping them develop professional judgement while delivering day to day support to residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Graduate Shannon Cullen said completing the programme helped her understand her role and develop as a practitioner, adding that the support from colleagues and managers had been essential throughout her training.
She explained that shadowing experienced staff and applying learning in real situations had shaped her approach, and said finishing the programme marked an important step in her career.
Portfolio holder for health and wellbeing Councillor David Brown said the programme ensures social workers are well prepared to support people at difficult moments, combining compassion with professional expertise.
He added that developing skilled staff helps the council provide consistent care for residents and strengthens services across local communities.
