A Poole hospice memorial event will return to Poole Park on Saturday 13 June.
Forest Holme Hospice’s Tie A Yellow Ribbon event invites people to remember loved ones by writing personal dedications and tying yellow ribbons in their memory, whether or not they have a connection to the hospice.
Among those attending will be staff member Alisa Malhi, who will be there both as a nurse and as a niece honouring her aunt, who was cared for by Forest Holme.
Alisa said being part of the hospice now means a great deal to her family, after seeing the care and support given to her aunt first hand.
She said the “kindness, dignity and support” her aunt received helped make a difficult time more bearable, and said the event gives families space to remember and feel less alone.
Alisa added: “It’s a simple gesture, but it carries so much love.”
Visitors will be able to write dedications, tie ribbons, spend time together in Poole Park and hear performances from local choirs led by Tim Dowland.
There will also be local craft stalls, refreshments and free children’s activities. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic.
After the event, the ribbons will be placed in the hospice garden, where they will remain as a tribute through the summer months.
Claire Cooper, fundraiser at Forest Holme Hospice Charity, said the event gives people “a place to pause, remember and feel supported”.
Those unable to attend can still make dedications online, with ribbons tied on their behalf by the hospice team.
