Pirate Park to get new ship and swings

A refresh for Poole’s Pirate Park is due to start next month in Canford Cliffs.

Treasure Island Park, known locally as Pirate Park, will get a new pirate ship, improved climbing and slide areas, sensory features and a miniature zip-wire, with new zones designed to encourage children to climb, balance and explore.

Younger children are set to benefit from a new play tower, balance beams and a communication panel, while adapted swings, resurfaced paths and upgrades to existing equipment aim to improve accessibility and bring more opportunities for fitness and wellbeing.

BCP Council’s parks and green spaces team is expected to complete the work in 4 to 6 weeks, with Canford Cliffs ward Councillor John Challinor saying the scheme will create “a great new play space” for all to enjoy.

Peter Dawes, chairman of Canford Cliffs Land Society, said the joint-funded project is a “logical continuation” of the society’s support for the area, as the council begins what Councillor Andy Hadley described as “a big year” for play spaces across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
