Playground upgrades progress in BCP

Upgrades to play areas across Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole are moving ahead.

More than 100 sites are included in a £4.4million programme to repair and refurbish 120 playgrounds, with work prioritised in areas with the highest demand and where improvements are needed most across the 3 towns.

Kingston Road playpark in Poole has been resurfaced and new swings installed at Churchill Gardens in Boscombe, while Seafield Gardens and Moordown Rec have both received new equipment, and Queen’s Park has undergone major refurbishment including a new fort and improved accessibility.

Steps have been replaced at Haskell’s Rec, a new swing installed at Green Road, the slide improved at Littlemoor Avenue and the goal repaired at Seafield Road, as designs progress for refurbishments at Noyce Gardens, Mallard Road and Muscliff.

Councillor Andy Hadley said there will be “full-scale replacement and refurbishments” at Treasure Island, Anchor Close, Kings Park, Mallard Road and Noyce Gardens in the coming months, adding the team is working to ensure each space reflects the needs of its neighbourhood.

Councillor Sandra Moore said what matters most to communities is the play spaces families use regularly and said the aim is to create welcoming and inclusive areas for children and families.
