A Dorset hospice has merged with a community choir to expand support for patients and families.
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has joined with Rising Voices Wessex, creating a combined service that widens access to wellbeing support for people living with cancer and life-limiting illness across east Dorset and Purbeck.
Founded by clinical professionals in 2012, the choir was set up to bring people together through music, and will now operate as the Lewis-Manning Rising Voices Choir, offering opportunities to connect, share experiences and benefit from singing.
Chief Executive Clare Gallie said “music brings people together” and added that the partnership expands ways people can “connect, build confidence, and access meaningful support”, with singing helping to improve breathing and reduce loneliness.

The merger also secures the choir’s future, giving members access to wider hospice services, community hubs and additional support, while maintaining a welcoming environment built around shared understanding and encouragement.
Weekly rehearsals will now take place at the hospice hub in Poole, supporting new members and strengthening early support for people so they can live well and stay connected.
