New trustees sought by Plants and Minds

New trustees sought by Plants and Minds

Plants and Minds is seeking new trustees and a chair as it expands further locally.

The mental health charity runs Cherry Tree Nursery in Bournemouth and Chestnut Nursery in Poole, providing meaningful work in supportive, pressure-free settings for adults with life-impacting mental health conditions through horticultural therapy.

Plants grown and sold at the nurseries generate revenue which supports the charity’s mental health provision, with trustees saying both sites have performed strongly during the first half of 2026.

A new Chair of Trustees will help shape the organisation’s direction after James Robinson, a Partner at PKF Francis Clark in Poole, completed 5 years in the role during a period of post-Covid growth.

Trustee Keilah Towers said there was “strong demand for mental health support” across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, alongside increasing interest from professional services seeking to refer adults for horticultural therapy.

The charity is particularly interested in people with leadership experience in garden retail, nursery operations, mental health services or business advisory work.

Knowledge of charity governance is useful but not essential, while HR experience and an interest in mental health support would also be beneficial.

Trustees attend quarterly in-person meetings and help determine priorities, oversee decisions and ensure legal obligations are met.
