A festival planned for Gaunts House in Wimborne has led to public objections.
The Sounds Beautiful event is described as a four-day family festival with live bands, DJs, speaker and comedy stage, workshops and kids’ area with a ‘healing field’ offering alternative therapies.
The Premises Licence requested asks for plays, films and live music up to 11pm with recorded music up until 2am on Friday and Saturday and until midnight on the opening day, Thursday, and final day on Sunday.
Alcohol sales will co-incide with the performance hours being requested, if approved.
The application for the licence asks for a start date for the event of June 27th.
Dorset Police say, in their consultation response, that they need more information about how the organisers will meet the licensing objectives, including public safety and protecting children from harm.
They also raise concerns about vehicle access and the lack of a suitable route for blue light services, should an emergency response be needed.
Similar concerns have been raised to Dorset Council by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue while the council’s environmental health team say they have concerns about potential noise nuisance from the festival site and want to see more noise monitoring details.
Holt Parish Council has asked Dorset councillors considering the application at a meeting on June 5th to ensure that all activities on the site stop at 11pm to avoid disturbing residents.
The licence application will be heard at a licensing panel meeting at County Hall, Dorchester on June 5th.
