Nearly 30,000 ice creams and lollies were sold along the BCP coastline in just four days.

BCP Council recorded 28,874 sales at its seafront kiosks during a period that included A Level results day on 13 August, working out at roughly 1 ice cream or lolly every 12 seconds.

Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for culture, said the figures showed how much people continued to enjoy spending time across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole during the summer.

He said the area offered a mix of beaches, open spaces, cultural attractions and heritage, adding that “culture and community fun” helped make it a destination for residents and visitors.

Away from the coastline, families are also visiting Upton Country Park, Poole Museum, the Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum and Highcliffe Castle.

Entertainment continues at the Lower Gardens Bandstand, with Samba Panache performing on 19 August, Funky Little Beach Choir on 20 August, Nory J on 21 August and The Real Deal on 22 August.
