New dance, theatre, puppetry and music performances will join Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea festival.
The free event returns to the town centre on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September, with its ELEMENTAL theme exploring Water, Earth, Fire and Air through performances and interactive experiences for generations.
A Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra ensemble will stage a family concert, taking audiences through oceans, landscapes and skies with music by Malcolm Arnold and Vaughan Williams alongside selections from Disney’s Frozen for audiences of all ages.
Roots to Rise will blend contemporary movement with Indian classical and folk dance, while Pirate Taxi will use a London black cab for aerial circus, live music, acrobatics and juggling.
Other additions include the BSL integrated FLOOD production, the gravity-powered Hydropunk water installation and Walk of the Dandelion, featuring an 8-foot puppet and a workshop where visitors can make woollen dandelions.
Festival Director Andrea Francis said the artists capture the “curiosity, creativity and sense of connection” behind ELEMENTAL, while Councillor Andy Martin said the programme offers something for every generation attending.
The Arts by the Sea Fringe will follow from Sunday 27 September until Sunday 11 October, bringing music, theatre, comedy, exhibitions and creative events to Bournemouth venues.
