A taxi driver is being sought after a reported assault in Bournemouth early this morning.
Dorset Police received a report at 12.26am on Sunday 7 June 2026 that an unoccupied vehicle had been found in the middle of Lincoln Avenue.
Officers made enquiries and at around 2.20am it was reported that an 18-year-old man had gone to Royal Bournemouth Hospital with suspected stab wounds to his arm and leg, as well as injuries to his head.
His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The man reported that he had been stopped while driving the vehicle before 2 men approached, threatened him and assaulted him.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody after being discharged from hospital.
Detectives from BCP CID are continuing enquiries to identify those involved. Detective Inspector Jon Sainsbury said officers had “launched a full investigation” and were appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
He said police understand that a taxi “reportedly pulled up at the scene” during the incident, which is believed to have prompted the offenders to leave.
Detective Inspector Sainsbury said he was keen to identify the driver because they “may have information” that could assist the investigation.
