BCP Council has confirmed it is using agency traffic wardens to help enforce parking rules.
The council says additional Civil Enforcement Officers are brought in during peak periods to support local teams.
The move follows concerns raised by a Bournemouth resident who received a parking fine issued by an officer believed to be based in London.
Penalty Charge Notices can be issued for a range of offences, including parking on yellow lines, in disabled bays without a badge, or overstaying time limits.
Higher-level offences carry a £70 fine, reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days, while lower-level fines are £50, reduced to £25.
The council says it pays agencies an hourly rate for enforcement officers, with any additional costs handled by the agency itself.
Officials added that all penalty notices are dealt with through standard procedures.
Residents who believe a fine has been issued incorrectly can challenge it through the council’s appeals process.
