Free beach wristbands return to BCP beaches

Free safety wristbands are returning to BCP beaches to help reunite separated families this summer.

The LV= KidZone scheme will run from July 1 until August 31 across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, with parents and carers able to collect a wristband for children or vulnerable adults.

Contact details and a location can be written on the secure bands, allowing seafront staff to get in touch quickly if someone becomes separated from their group.

BCP Council Seafront Rangers and RNLI Lifeguards will distribute the wristbands at seafront offices and lifeguard towers along the 15 miles of coastline.

The scheme covers beaches from Alum Chine to Fisherman’s Walk in Bournemouth and Southbourne, alongside Avon, Friars Cliff and Highcliffe in Christchurch, plus Sandbanks, Shore Road and Branksome Chine in Poole.

Dedicated LV= KidZone staff in blue shirts will be based at Bournemouth Beach from July 18 until the end of August.

Kester Sheppard, RNLI Lead Lifeguard Supervisor for East Dorset’s beaches, said the wristbands make it “quicker and easier” to reunite children with parents with minimal distress.
