New play area upgrades planned across BCP

Play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are set for major upgrades as part of BCP Council’s Plan for Play improvement strategy.

Refurbishments have been announced for Noyce Gardens, Mallard Road, Muscliff Park, King’s Park and Bourne Valley, with designs shaped by ideas from local children, young people and families. The new plans include swings, seesaws, slides, climbing nets, sloping beams and sensory play features, aiming to make the sites more accessible for everyone.

Local communities were involved in the design process through meetings with BCP Council officers during last summer’s consultation.

Councillor Sandra Moore, Portfolio Holder for Play Strategy, said the progress on refurbishments shows the influence local communities can have and demonstrates the council’s commitment to delivering on residents’ priorities. Start dates for each site will be announced soon, with further work planned at Anchor Close, Churchill Gardens, Hamworthy Park and other locations.

BCP Council is investing over £4.6million to improve around 120 play areas in total, with work set to increase over the next six months. Recent upgrades have already been completed at Treasure Island in Canford Cliffs and several other sites.
