Ringwood hosts free New Forest festival

A free festival celebrating nature, community and young voices will return to Ringwood next month.

New Forest Thrive takes place at Carvers Recreation Ground on Saturday 4 July, with interactive displays, performances and activities planned between 10am and 3pm for families and visitors of all ages.

The event follows last year’s festival, which attracted 500 people, and will bring together local groups working on wildlife, climate issues, young people’s projects and connections with the New Forest National Park.

Visitors can watch the Bee Circus with animatronic bee puppets, see Joli Vyann perform Life’s a Beach and take part in bike and scooter marking with police officers.

PEDALL New Forest Inclusive Cycling will invite young people to add distance to its 10,000km for £10k fundraising challenge through a go kart cycle loop, while African Activities will offer drumming, storytelling and recycled milk bottle bird making.

The New Forest Youth Board, The Parks Foundation, New Forest Aquaponics, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, Greening Ringwood and Ringwood Actions for Climate Emergency are among the organisations attending.

Paul Walton from the New Forest National Park Authority said the festival gives young people an opportunity to care for and enjoy the nature and heritage around them.

He added: “It’s a chance to share important messages and connect families, young people, and groups.”

Attendees are encouraged to travel sustainably where possible, with bike storage and public transport options available.
