Bournemouth cargo airline enters administration

A Bournemouth based cargo airline has gone into administration after stopping flights in May.

European Cargo ceased flying operations on 19 May, before administrators were appointed on 3 June.

The carrier operated from its home base at Bournemouth in Dorset and used 6 converted Airbus A340 600 aircraft. It also owned several additional airframes of the same type.

The airline was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when founder Paul Stoddart sought to support the NHS by transporting vital PPE supplies. He later sold the airline to the current operators in 2022.

The announcement brings an end to just over 6 years of operations. It remains unclear from the information provided what this means for the wider European group.

Stuart Morris, Robert Fishman and David Soden of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited have been appointed joint administrators of European Cargo Limited.

A statement said: “The affairs, business and property of the Company are managed by the Joint Administrators.”

It added that the administrators “act as agents of the Company and contract without personal liability.”
