AFC Bournemouth qualify for European football

AFC Bournemouth have qualified for European football for the first time in the club’s history after a dramatic 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium.

Junior Kroupi’s first-half strike looked set to seal all 3 points for Bournemouth before Erling Haaland equalised deep into stoppage time. Despite the late setback, the result was enough to confirm Bournemouth’s place in Europe next season.

The Cherries defended strongly throughout against sustained Manchester City pressure, with Djordje Petrovic producing several important saves. Bournemouth also came close to extending their lead, hitting the woodwork twice through Rayan and David Brooks.

Kroupi opened the scoring in the 39th minute after being picked out by Adrien Truffert, firing a right-footed finish into the top corner from the left side of the box.

City threw on Phil Foden, Savinho and Rayan Cherki in the second half as they searched for a response, and Rodri struck the post in added time moments before Haaland converted the rebound to level the match at 1-1.

The final whistle sparked celebrations around the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth secured a historic achievement by reaching European competition for the first time.
