Five years of projects supporting Bournemouth’s coastal economy are being highlighted as part of a review of progress.
Bournemouth Coastal BID has published a summary of its work since 2021, outlining how investment has supported businesses, attracted visitors and improved public spaces across areas including Boscombe, Southbourne and Westbourne.
The organisation represents more than 600 businesses and focuses on four main priorities, including promoting the area as a destination, improving safety, enhancing the environment and supporting business growth.
Figures in the report show Bournemouth attracts over 6.5 million visitors each year, generating more than £500 million in spending and supporting around 12,000 jobs locally.
Over the past five years, the BID says events have brought more than 100,000 visitors annually, while marketing campaigns and partnerships have helped raise the profile of the area and encourage more people to visit.
Work has also included environmental improvements such as planting, lighting and graffiti removal, alongside safety initiatives and business support including training and funding opportunities.
The BID says it raises more than £450,000 each year through its levy, helping to deliver projects agreed by local businesses and secure additional funding.
Businesses are now being asked to take part in a vote on whether to renew the BID for a further five-year term, with a decision due later this year.
