Early bus travel discount approved
Disabled bus pass holders in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will soon be able to travel earlier in the day at a reduced fare.
Councillors have approved a programme of bus service improvements for the next year.
Under the plan, passengers with concessionary passes will be able to travel before 9.30am for a one-pound single fare.
Currently, pass holders can travel for free during off-peak hours on weekdays and all day at weekends and bank holidays.
Funding will also continue for existing initiatives, including two-pound day rider tickets at weekends for under-19s and discounted multi-trip ticket bundles.
The council says the programme will protect more than 99 per cent of subsidised bus journeys, covering around 1.3 million trips each year.
Improvements will also be made to key junctions across the area, including Poole College, Winton, Upper Parkstone and Boscombe, to improve reliability and reduce journey times.
Councillor Andy Hadley said buses are a lifeline for many residents and the improvements aim to make travel more accessible, reliable and convenient.
