BCP and Morebus team up to fix issues

More frequent and reliable bus journeys are set to be discussed for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

BCP Council and Morebus have drawn up proposals for 2026 and 2027 which would see investment in key junctions, upgraded shelters and improved passenger information, with Councillors due to consider the plans in the coming weeks.

Targeted highway improvements are proposed at Poole College, Winton, Upper Parkstone and Boscombe to keep buses moving on the busiest routes, reduce congestion and cut journey times, while 50 stops across the area would benefit from better shelters and accessibility enhancements.

Passenger facilities would also be strengthened, with improved seating, lighting and signage at Poole Bus Station, alongside additional CCTV and information screens at Bournemouth Travel Interchange and Boscombe Bus Station, and a wider roll out of real time displays with audible announcements.

Councillor Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for sustainable travel, said buses play a vital role in connecting communities and that the package would make journeys “simpler, more convenient and more reliable”.

Richard Wade, general manager of Morebus, said listening to feedback and working in partnership remains central to improving services, adding that satisfaction levels show progress but “we won’t stop here”.

The proposals will be reviewed by the Transport Advisory Group on 25 February before going to Cabinet on 4 March.
