£15m pub investment boosts Dorset

More than £15 million has been invested into pubs this year, with work in Poole and across Dorset leading a programme of upgrades and new developments.

The Dorset-based brewer and pub company has focused its spending on maintaining and adapting its estate, including buying and redeveloping a new site in Poole as part of wider plans to respond to changing customer habits around casual dining, coffee and social experiences.

A £3.8 million acquisition and transformation of The Quay in Poole has reshaped the venue, creating a refreshed offer designed to appeal to groups and younger diners while strengthening its role as a year-round social space on the town’s waterfront.

Investment has also supported jobs and business opportunities across hospitality, alongside work to protect historic pub buildings and help independent operators run venues with established local trade and long-term potential.

Mark James, Property Director at Hall and Woodhouse, said pubs continue to play an important role in their communities and are increasingly used throughout the day, from coffee and breakfast to family meals and celebrations.

Within the company’s Business Partnership estate, £450,000 funded major improvements at The Ox in Ashley Cross, including a new kitchen, upgraded interiors and a full refurbishment of fourteen guest bedrooms, marking a new partnership with Provision Hospitality Management.

Beyond Dorset, further refurbishments and new developments have taken place across neighbouring counties as part of the same investment programme.
