Flu vaccine reminder across BCP area
Residents in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being encouraged to book their flu vaccines to reduce the risk of serious illness this winter.
Many groups across the area can receive a free vaccine, including people aged sixty five or over, pregnant women, children aged two and three, school pupils, residents with long-term health conditions, care home residents, unpaid carers, those living with someone who is immunocompromised and frontline health and social care workers.
Parents can arrange a nasal spray vaccine for two and three year-olds, with local pharmacies offering this option for the first time this year to make access easier. All primary school children and some secondary school students will continue to receive their nasal spray vaccinations through the school nursing team.
Councillor David Brown said flu can lead to hospital treatment and urged residents to stay protected by getting vaccinated, highlighting that doing so helps protect friends, families and colleagues.
Eligible residents can book through their GP, a pharmacy or a local vaccination clinic. Those aged over seventy five, and people aged six months to seventy four with a weakened immune system, can also receive a free covid vaccine. Information on clinics and eligibility is available at staywelldorset.nhs.uk/vaccinations.
