Local grants support cost of living aid

Residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will benefit from eighty thousand pounds in grants awarded to twenty three local groups to support people experiencing cost of living pressures.

The funding, provided through the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund, will help deliver warm hubs, free meals and money advice across the area until March 2026.

Projects receiving grants include The Power House in Poole, which will run a Winter Warm Hub, and Faithworks Wessex, which will offer financial resilience sessions. We Are Humans will provide meals and essential items for rough sleepers, while Friendly Food Club will deliver community cookery workshops.

Other groups involved include Bournemouth Foodbank, Citizens Advice Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, The Parks Foundation and Townsend Community Association.

Councillor Sandra Moore said the support will help ensure vital services reach people who need them most, adding that volunteers and frontline workers play an important role. Dorset Community Foundation chief executive Grant Robson said the funding will reach places where it can make the greatest impact, highlighting the work of local organisations in helping people stay warm and healthy.
