Dorset Police renews focus on tackling hate crime
Dorset Police is strengthening its focus on tackling hate crime during Hate Crime Awareness Week, which runs this week, from Saturday 11 to Saturday 18 October 2025.
The week aims to raise awareness of hate crime, encourage victims to report offences and highlight the support available to those affected.
Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick said Hate Crime Awareness Week was a key opportunity to reaffirm a collective commitment to safer, more inclusive communities. He said he would continue to work with Dorset Police and local partners to ensure victims are supported and offenders are held to account.
Chief Inspector Darren Moores, Dorset Police’s hate crime lead, said the Force is committed to standing with anyone who has experienced hate crime.
“Our officers and staff are dedicated to supporting our communities and raising standards of hate crime investigations,” he said. “We encourage those affected, or who have witnessed a hate crime, to use this week as an opportunity to report offences. Together, we can take positive action and reduce their impact on our communities.”
The Force says reporting hate crimes helps officers understand the scale and complexity of hate-related incidents across Dorset. Reports can be made quickly through the Dorset Police website.
