Her Royal Highness toured the three-storey building and memorial garden in Winfrith today, Monday 6 October, meeting local dignitaries, officers, staff and volunteers who work across a range of departments.

Chief Constable Amanda Pearson said it was an honour to welcome The Princess Royal for what she described as an important moment in the Force’s history. She added that the new building “will provide value for money and long-term savings enabling us to invest in frontline policing to tackle the things that matter most to our communities.”

The headquarters has been designed with sustainability in mind, featuring solar panels to generate power and reduced water usage. It has received a ‘good’ BREEAM rating, which recognises buildings that meet high environmental standards.

Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick said the new headquarters “will provide staff and officers with the tools and resources they need to serve and protect our communities effectively.” He added that the project forms part of Dorset Police’s wider estate programme to ensure future facilities are fit for purpose.

Richard Poulter, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon’s Construction South region, said the building “is a sustainable foundation for community safety that will serve Dorset for decades.”
