Several individuals from Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and east Dorset have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List this year.
Michael Francis Cox, known locally as Councillor Mike Cox, has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
Based in Christchurch, he has been honoured for political and public service. As Treasurer of the Liberal Democrats, his work has focused on financial oversight and supporting political engagement at both local and national levels.
Linda Patricia Magistris from Poole has received an OBE for services to bereavement support. She founded The Good Grief Trust after a personal experience of loss, and the charity now connects people to hundreds of support services and leads National Grief Awareness Week.
Christchurch resident Susan Linda Wilkinson has also been awarded an OBE. She serves as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee at the Churches Conservation Trust. Her leadership has helped protect historic churches and ensure they continue to serve communities across the country.
David Richmond-Coggan has received the British Empire Medal for his voluntary work with the RNLI in Bournemouth and Christchurch. He is Honorary Chairman of the local fundraising branch and plays an active role in lifeguard education and maritime safety.

When receiving the unexpected letter from the Cabinet Office containing the exciting news, David told Bournemouth One: “I was absolutely blown away. It was unimaginable, not even in my wildest dreams. I had no idea that I had been put forward for this recognition and I am truly humbled.
“I have always had a real admiration for the RNLI after learning that they saved my father-in-law’s life during World War 2.
“They gave him 55 more years and without that I would never have met my wonderful late wife or been blessed with my children and grandchildren. To be able to give back to such an incredible charity is an absolute pleasure.”
