Bourne Academy in Bournemouth West will receive government funding for essential improvements to its buildings.
The investment is part of the national Condition Improvement Fund, which is being used to make schools across the country safer, warmer and better suited to learning.
At the Bournemouth school, the funding will go towards external repairs to improve the overall condition and energy efficiency of the site. These works aim to support a more comfortable environment for both pupils and staff.
The announcement is part of a £470 million package supporting school upgrades throughout England.
Local MP Jessica Toale welcomed the news and praised the impact the funding will have on the school: “I’m really pleased that Bourne Academy is receiving this much-needed investment to upgrade its buildings. Having visited the school and spoken with staff and parents, I know how important these improvements are to ensuring pupils can learn in a safe, well-maintained environment.”
This investment also supports the Government’s wider Plan for Change, which aims to modernise public buildings and improve services across education and healthcare.
The Department for Education says the work will help provide better conditions for young people and support the long-term future of school buildings in areas like Bournemouth West.
