Dorset Police is making plans to help ensure residents and visitors stay safe as the county heads into the busy summer period.
The Force says it will increase uniformed patrols in key areas across Dorset and is working with partner agencies to respond to the rising number of people expected throughout the warmer months.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Callaghan said: “We are dedicated to ensuring that residents and visitors to Dorset feel safe and can enjoy their time here. These longer days and warmer weather bring our busiest time of year and teams across the county are ready and working hard to keep you safe.”
Officers, staff and volunteers will be on duty across beaches, rural spaces and night-time areas during the summer.
Dorset Police is asking members of the public to report anything suspicious and to be respectful of others while enjoying their time outdoors.
The county is regularly named one of the safest places to live and visit in England.
The Force encourages people to contact police online for non-emergencies and to always dial 999 in an emergency.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick said: “As it nears the busiest time of the year for Dorset Police, I want the people of Dorset to have confidence that the Force – and our partners – are ready to tackle the extra demand which comes with living in a fantastic county like ours.
“I know how much goes into planning for these busy times and I know that by working together, in partnership with other key organisations, Dorset Police will be working relentlessly to ensure residents and visitors can enjoy all Dorset has to offer, safely and securely.”
