Poole entertainer Jason Dean, who has terminal cancer, hosted a charity cabaret night in celebration of his life and raised £2170 for the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.
53-year-old Jason was diagnosed with bowel cancer four years ago, which later spread to his liver and lungs.
Despite recently learning that chemotherapy is no longer working, he organised the event to bring people together and give back to the charity that supported him.
The event took place at La Mia’s restaurant in Poole and ran from 1pm to 11pm, with more than 200 people attending.
Jason said: “The idea for a celebration of my life wasn’t at all morbid but was dedicated to music which has been my life, and also to raising some money for the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.”
Tribute acts from across the country performed, including Adele and Dusty Springfield, and former football manager Harry Redknapp made a surprise appearance to help with the auction.
Jason spent much of his career entertaining on cruise ships, as well as working as a TV warm-up artiste for shows such as *Who Wants to Be a Millionaire*.
He added: “Knowing I’m helping other people here in Dorset who have cancer makes me feel proud and that I have a purpose.”
DCCF Patron Jeff Mostyn described the event as “a joyous celebration” and praised Jason’s efforts.
