Council tax bills in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are to go up by 4.99 per cent from April.
BCP Council voted through the increase at this week’s full council meeting.
The council currently spends £356 million annually to deliver public services to 400,000 residents.
Meanwhile Dorset Council has approved a five per cent rise.
For a band D property that amounts to an increase of £1.91 a week.
Dorset Council’s record £417 million budget will include job losses but increased spending in some areas such as adult and children’s services, housing and public health.
Cllr Simon Clifford, Dorset Council’s finance portfolio holder. described the budget as “tough, challenging” and needing hard decisions.
