Bournemouth up to 11th after narrow win over Crystal Palace

The Cherries are up to 11th in the Premier League after a close fought 1-0 victory over mid table fighting Crystal Palace.

The Tuesday night game, which was played in wet and windy conditions, started slow with both teams trying to keep hold of the ball.

Bournemouth had the better of the first half chances most notably when Philip Billing went close with a long-distanced free kick forcing Dean Henderson into a diving save.

The better save came moments later when Billing was on target again but the former Man United keeper reacted well to tip the close range header over the crossbar.

Moments before the break, Palace thought they had broke the deadlock but Eze’s calm finish was ruled to be offside which saw the scoreline goalless at the break.

Andoni Iraola’s men had more control of the second 45 but was struggling to net the opener even when a seemingly easy chance for Dominic Solanke was fired into the side netting.

The stalemate was finally broken when Semenyo used his electric pace to get to a strong pass and cross the ball into an arriving Justin Kluivert who smashed it past Henderson.

Bournemouth then dug deep and managed to see out the impressive victory and record a rare and much deserved clean sheet.

The win means the Cherries have done the league double over Crystal Palace for the first time since Harry Redknapp was in the south coast dugout.

Bournemouth’s next game is away to Luton Town on Saturday at 3pm.
