Vikki Slade, Member of Parliament for Mid Dorset and North Poole, is campaigning against the proposed waste-to-energy incinerator at Canford Magna, which was previously rejected by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.
The developer, MVV, has appealed the decision, and the appeal hearing began earlier this month.
During the hearing, new documents revealed that only 20% of the waste for the incinerator would come from the Dorset and BCP area, raising concerns about increased lorry movements and pollution.
Vikki Slade said this would have a major negative impact on local people and confirmed her earlier concerns about the need to bring in waste from outside the area. The incinerator is designed to burn up to 260,000 tonnes of waste each year and would feature a 110-metre chimney stack.
Slade also highlighted that there is no assurance the heat or energy generated would benefit the local community.
She urged the Inspector to refuse the appeal, stating the development undermines efforts to support a circular economy. A decision from the Inspector is expected in late summer.
