Babies born at Bournemouth Hospital will now be welcomed with an AFC Bournemouth sleepsuit.
The club has launched the initiative with the hospital’s maternity unit, giving every baby born on site an official club sleepsuit as part of a programme developed with University Hospitals Dorset.
AFC Bournemouth says the scheme is designed to build a connection with local families from the earliest moments of life, while also helping new parents in the area with a practical gift.
Jim Frevola, President of Business Operations at AFC Bournemouth, said the partnership with Bournemouth Hospital would help create a “meaningful connection” with the next generation of supporters “from day one”.
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is also involved in the initiative and has welcomed the support from the club.
Karen Smith, Senior Charity Manager, said the sleepsuits would “bring a smile” to new parents and described them as a way to welcome “the newest members of our community”.
The charity said it has worked with AFC Bournemouth for many years, including a recent club grant towards 2 safety pods for Mental Health rooms in the Emergency Department.
Players also visit the hospitals each year to give out gifts to children at Christmas.
Kerry Taylor, Head of Midwifery, said staff at the maternity unit in the Beach building are privileged to share important moments with families, calling the sleepsuits a “perfect finishing touch” for new parents.
